Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to Get Live Action Treatment

Get excited! This 'tale as old as time' will be getting the live action treatment and headed to a theater near you soon!

If you know me at all, then you know I am Disney FANATIC! (We may or may not be going back to Disney World in a week and a half for our fourth summer vacay in a row...don't judge us.)Which is why I am ecstatic with Disney's recent announcement to turn one of my all time favorites into a live action movie! Following the success of Maleficent , the powers that be at the big D have decided to give us a live action adaption of Beauty and the Beast! This comes after the first official teaser for the live action version of Cinderella, set to debut in 2015, and the announcement that there will be a live action version of The Jungle Book as well.

Bill Condon, best known for his work on musicals, Dream Girls and Chicago, is set to direct the film, sparking rumors that this might actually be a musical! After all, Beauty and the Beasts boast some pretty amazing award nominated music, and has already been turned into a noteworthy Broadway musical in it's own right. It should also be noted, Condon directed the last two installments of the Twilight Saga, so perhaps we might also see a more angsty teen side of Belle and the Beast? At any rate, I am SO excited that Disney is giving new life to some old favorites!
