Fort Hood's annual "Trees for Troops" is back this year, and it's happening on Friday, December 10th starting at 8am.
Supply Chain Issues Are Taking A Toll on Christmas Availabilities in Texas
The supply chain shortage seems to be hitting us in every area, from electronics to cleaning supplies to toys, furniture and even Christmas trees. In some cases, just finding certain items can be challenging, while in other cases you may end up paying a premium for the items you do find.
As we reported back in mid-October, artificial Christmas trees have been affected by the supply chain issue, and because of the lack of those trees, people are over-paying for real Christmas trees.
Good News for Central Texas Military Members: Trees for Troops
According to a Facebook post from the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hood, free Christmas Trees are available for the local soldiers this Friday at Fort Hood's annual "Trees for Troops."
Soldiers are able to get one free Christmas Tree this Friday at Hood Stadium starting at 8a till 10a in building 50029 for E1 to E4. For E5 and above, pickup times are from 10a till trees are gone. DoD card holders can also get a free tree during the event starting at 10a. You must have your military ID when picking up the tree.
What You Will Need to Participate in Trees for Troops?
Anyone picking up a tree will need to be able to load their own tree and bring any necessary supplies like tie down straps, ropes, bungie cords to secure the tree to their vehicle.
