Free Distribution Event to Ease Food Insecurity in Temple September 18
It's an unfortunate reality that many of our friends and neighbors in Central Texas are experiencing food insecurity.
Thankfully, there are fantastic organizations that are out there helping, and one such group is gearing up for another of their generous food distribution events.
Mark Your Calendar
The Central Texas Food Bank has scheduled a free food distribution event at Temple College, 2600 S. 1st Street, on Saturday, September 18 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
Walk-Ups Welcome
This event is designed as a drive-through distribution, but no one will be turned away.
If you pull up on your vehicle, please make sure there's room in the trunk or backseat for a large box of provisions.
If you attend on foot, the folks at the CTX Food Bank recommend you bring a container you can easily carry your box of food in. If you have something with wheels that can be pushed or pulled, that would be best. These boxes can be pretty heavy.
If you know someone who needs this assistance but doesn't have a ride, consider giving them a lift. It'd be a noble and kind thing to do and spare them the hassle of getting the food home.
A Helping Hand
If your family is currently facing food insecurity, the Central Texas Food Bank has the resources to help.
Not everyone's schedule allows them to make it to one of these distribution events, but the CTX Food Bank works every day to help the good people of our area out.
If you can't make it or you're in immediate need of food resource help, please visit centraltexasfoodbank.org and click the Find Food Now button. You can also click the Get Help button for information on SNAP benefits, gardening, nutrition information, and even cooking classes.
You Can Make a Difference
A great deal of work goes into the CTX Food Bank's efforts to help, and they're in urgent need of volunteers to make it possible.
Tap the Volunteer button on their website for information on how you or your organization can get involved.
If you'd like to help but aren't able to volunteer right now, there's also a Donation button on their website. Funds donated to the food bank go directly into food care packages and programs aimed at assisting our friends and neighbors who need this help as they work to get back on their feet.
