Free Outdoor Screening of The Goonies in Temple October 17
Goonies never say die! But they do love watching a great family adventure movie, especially when it's free.
Temple Parks & Recreation invites your family to a special Sundown Movie Night at the MLK Festival Grounds, 301 S 4th St., on Saturday, October 17. Gates will open at 6:30 PM, and the movie's scheduled to begin at 7 PM.
The feature presentation will be the 1986 classic The Goonies.
The movie's free, but Temple Parks & Rec is asking that you register by Friday, October 9 if you want to share this special event with your family. Normally they invite everyone to just come on out, but with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing, they're taking some safety precautions that include making sure there's plenty of space for everyone to physically distance so everyone can have a good time without worrying.
There won't be any vendors (again, for health and safety reasons), but families are invited to bring a picnic dinner. That sounds great to me, actually. Dinner under the stars while watching a great movie? Awesome.
You can get registered and see more information about the event here.
In case you've never seen it or it's been a while, The Goonies follows the adventures of a group of rowdy kids searching for pirate treasure to save their town from being torn down and replaced with a country club. It stars Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings and Bob from Stranger Things) and Josh Brolin (Thanos from the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and it's one of the absolute best 80's movies.
Whether you want to share this beloved classic with your family or experience it with them for the first time, be sure to get signed up early so you can enjoy The Goonies under the stars in Temple.
