Funeral For Local Deputy Scheduled For Monday

A funeral service for Bell County Sherriff’s Deputy Adam Davis will be held at the Bell County Expo Center Monday afternoon.

Davis, 36, died Wednesday, December 11 after being critically injured in a December 1 single-vehicle crash while responding to a call near Pendleton.

The service will begin at 1:30 PM., followed by a procession to Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple beginning around 3 p.m.

The procession will leave the Expo Center along Loop 121, cross I-35 and turn north onto FM 93. It will then head east along FM 93 to Texas 95, then north to Young Avenue in Temple and West onto Shell Avenue. Davis will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetary at 1873 North 1st St. in Temple. Drivers can expect delays along this route until as late as 4:30 p.m.

A planned benefit for Davis’ family has been postponed, but donations may be made to an Extraco Bank benefit account: 20438917, styled under Norman Hubbard.

Davis was responding to what turned out to be an unfounded report of a man with a gun near Pendleton around 9:15 p.m. on December 1 when he lost control of his patrol car on FM 1237. The car rolled several times before coming to a stop in the yard of a home. Davis was flown to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple where he remained on life support until passing away Wednesday morning just after 10 a.m.

Davis was hired as a full-time deputy in August after serving as a reserve deputy since 2007.
