George Strait Goes to #1 on This Date in 1988
George Strait has more #1 hits than Healthcare.gov has glitches, so it should come as no surprise that, on this date in 1988, the King hit #1 on the Billboard Country Charts.
"If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin')" was Strait's 15th #1 single, including his 8th consecutive release to reach the top spot. The tune, a remake of a song written by Tommy Collins and turned into a #2 hit by Faron Young in 1954, hit #1 on December 10th, 1988. The song has been described more as "campy" than "country", but #1 is still #1.
Sooooo, which version do you like better? Have a look/listen and judge for yourself.
