Groundbreaking Marks Milestone for Georgetown ISD Growth

Last Friday, May 12th, construction crews began work on two new campuses in the Georgetown ISD area. A new elementary school and a new middle school are being built in order to provide the students of the district with the facilities and faculty that they will need in order to keep up with the rapid growth in the Georgetown district.

Voters Approve Landmark Investment in Education

In 2024, the voters in the district approved a bond package (the largest the district has ever approved) of $649.5 million that addressed the need for new facilities, renovation of existing facilities, and a much-needed update of the technology be used by the 13,000 students in the district. The bond consisted of four propositions (which were all approved) that went towards school facilities, technology, fine arts, and athletic facilities.

Community Support for Enhanced Learning Environment

The package was estimated to cost about $2.75 a month for the average homeowner in the district. I'm sure most people would agree that $33 a year is a small price to pay for such great additions and improvements to Georgetown ISD even though nobody likes to have an increase in their property taxes.

Future Campuses Set to Open in 2026-2027

Central Texas has been consistently growing in population, and last year Georgetown saw an increase of about 500 students. The two new campuses are expected to open for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
