Heads Up Killeen Commuters: Road Closures This Week May Affect Your Drive

Killeen, Texas commuters will need to find alternative routes, as several road closures have been announced by the City of Killeen's Public Works Transportation Division.

Does it seem like the road construction in Central Texas never ends? The good news is that when it's all finally done, whenever that is, driving in and around our area should be nice and easy. Getting to that point is the hard part.

With that in mind, knowing about road closures in advance is better than finding out the hard way when you're in a hurry.

Marcus Hood with the City of Killeen reports that the City of Killeen's Public Works Transportation Division has announced road closures will be in effect from Jan. 10 through Jan. 21 for the following roads:

- On East Trimmier Road from Stagecoach Road to County Maintenance Line
- On Featherline Road from Stagecoach Road to Chaparral Road
- On Llewelyn Drive from Stagecoach Road to Featherline Road

Road closures will take place from 7AM to 7PM, weather permitting.

Closures are due to crews working asphalt overlay and milling services.

Markers will be clearly placed to help guide the flow of traffic but as a reminder, slow down in construction zones and abide by all rules of the road.

Alternate routes are always suggested and with closures starting at 7 in the morning, you may want to map out an different route to work or just give yourself a little extra time to get to where you're going.

If you live in the area, don't worry: the road will be open to local traffic.

Remember, fines double in road construction zones. Drive smart, drive safe.
