Need Home Repairs? The City of Temple, Texas Wants to Help You
Does your home need repairs? Here's some good news if you live in Temple, Texas.
The City of Temple has a program to help local residents repair their homes. KCEN is reporting that the city obtained a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from HUD, and Temple's Home Repair Program has $271,530 in available funds.
Requirements and Restrictions
Of course, if you just want to spruce up your home, renovate the kitchen, or add another bathroom, this program is not for you.
According to the city website, repairs must be for 'high priority' or non-cosmetic fixes. Repair costs cannot be more than half of the assessed value of your home, and you cannot owe the City of Temple any outstanding fees.
The city will start the process by talking to you about your needs, inspecting your home, and creating a list of necessary repairs. Your income will be verified through an online system called Neighborly. If you don't have internet access, the city can enter information for you.
Temple Home Repair Program
If you live in an area of Temple where at least half the residents are low or medium-income, you are eligible if you need repairs to your home and help to pay for them. You must own your home and be current on property taxes. Once everything has been verified, the city will connect you with their best partner agency to manage your repair work.
To start the application process, call Temple's Department of Housing and Community Development at 254-298-5999.
