It’s a Mystery! Creepy Dolls Have Been Washing Up on Texas Beaches, Why?

Texas beaches can make for a great time but why do these creepy dolls keep washing up on shore and where are they coming from?

Texas coastal beaches are full of sun, surf and sand and can make for a great weekend getaway or even a weeklong vacation but something strange has been washing up on those Texas beaches over the last couple of years and nobody seems to know for sure where they come from - creepy dolls.

The Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve, otherwise known as "Reserve", have been finding these dolls year after year in basically the same stretch of beach in Texas.

The Reserve

The Reserve monitor a 40-mile stretch of beach running from north Padre Island, up to Matagorda Island looking for sea turtles and other marine mammals and endangered bird species and will often find all kinds of trash and junk. Jace Tunnell, director of the Mission Aransas Reserve at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, tells  McClatchy News via phone that the dolls are in a category of their own.

“We’re actually doing scientific work, but the dolls are a perk. Every day is something new, just when you think you’ve found everything that could possibly wash up on shore, something else comes up.”

But where are these dolls coming from?

Creepy Doll Mystery

Where these dolls are coming from is a mystery but Tunnell does say that it's not unusual for Texas beaches to see a lot of trash wash up on shore: “Texas coastal bend beaches get 10 times the amount of trash … than any other beach in the Gulf of Mexico.”  Apparently this is do to a “loop current” in the Gulf that stretches from the Yucatan Peninsula to Florida.

It's believed that the dolls are coming from Mexico but some might say something "haunted" is happening.
