Jason Aldean took a lot of criticism for his "bro-country" song "1994", complete with its references to country singer Joe Diffie mixed in.  Taking a look back at the charts on this date in 1994 we see where the inspiration originated.

Joe Diffie had 35 singles reach the charts, including five #1 hits, between 1990 & 2004.  This was obviously right in Aldean's wheelhouse during the formidable years of his youth, and his tribute of sorts seemed to be well-received by Diffie himself.  "Pickup Man" spent four weeks at #1, beginning December 17th, 1994.  The rest, they say, is history.
