The crash occurred at the intersection of East Central Texas Expressway and West Trimmier Road around 2:30 pm. The suspect – wanted in connection to a theft from a local Walmart – was spotted by police in the 2500 block of W.S. Young Drive. He headed north on W.S. Young and turned west on Central Texas Expressway. After attempting to make a high-speed turn onto Trimmier, his vehicle collided with a city dump truck and a Ford Escape carrying two people.

The suspect was transported to Scott and White Hospital. His condition is unknown. The two passengers in the Ford Escape were taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Traffic on Trimmier was diverted while crews cleaned up the crash site.
