A Killeen man faces multiple charges after police say he strangled his girlfriend after an argument Saturday night.

Eugene Sonny Brownlow III allegedly attacked the woman during an argument in an apartment on Henderson Drive. The victim told police Brownlow at first choked her with his bare hands. When she escaped the initial assault, he reportedly caught up with her, then wrapped a sheet around her neck to choke her and attempted to smother her with a pillow.

According to a police report, Brownlow exited through a window and fled from responding officers. He was later found hiding nearby under sheet rock.

Brownlow was booked into the Bell County Jail Monday at 2:21 PM. He's been charged with second degree felony assault, failure to identify himself as a fugitive from justice, and evading arrest, and violating the terms of parole. His bonds total $110,000.
