Killeen Police Looking for Answers After Two Holiday Murders
Two young men lost their lives over the long holiday weekend, and the Killeen Police department is seeking answers to their death.
According to a report from the Killeen Police Department, the tenth and eleventh murders in the city this year occurred on September 5th and 6th.
The first victim, age 21, lost his life to a gunshot wound. Police have yet to release the victim's name due to pending notification of next of kin. Authorities were dispatched to the Liberty 6 Motel located at 529 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. at 8:07 PM in reference to a shooting victim.
Upon arrival, officers located two males suffering from a gunshot wound. One was unconscious lying on the ground and the second was alert. The second male, 32, was transported to Baylor Scott & White in Temple in stable condition. The 21-year-old was pronounced deceased at 8:52 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at the scene.
Following the September 5th murder, on September 6, at approximately 11:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Westcliff Road in reference to a shots fired call. At the scene, authorities located a vehicle near an apartment building with a male driver suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, 18, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 12:34 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at the scene. The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Currently, both investigations are ongoing and there is no other information at this time.
