Former Killeen Police Officer Indicted for Official Oppression

A man recently employed as an officer with the Killeen Police Department has been indicted by a Bell County Grand Jury.

According to a press release from the Killeen Police Department, Edgar Diaz-Casillas, a three year veteran of the Killeen Police, turned himself in to the Bell County Jail on April 1, 2021 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Diaz-Casillas allegedly made unwanted sexual advances to a woman while acting as an officer of the law.

At the time of the report, Diaz-Casillas was placed on administrative leave with pay. According to the press release, this is standard protocol. An investigation was launched and ultimately Diaz-Casillas was indefinitely suspended on February 11, 2021, for code of conduct violations, dishonesty, lack of integrity, and untruthfulness on multiple occasions.

Diaz-Casillas was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman, who set his bond at $100,000. This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, and on March 31, 2021, an indictment was issued by the Bell County Grand Jury charging Edgar Diaz-Casillas with Official Oppression.

Because this investigation is ongoing, and a civil service appeal is pending, police aren't releasing any more at this time.

According to a report from the Killeen Daily Herald, Diaz-Casillas joined the Killeen Police Department on August 11, 2018. At the time of his graduation, Diaz-Casillas was actually chosen as class president by his peers.

The Bell County inmate list does not currently have a listing for Diaz-Cassillas, so it may be safe to assume that he has since bonded out. This story will be updated as more details become available.
