Bring in the pets and trickle the water tonight, because Bell County is officially under a freeze warning for Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Our partners at News 10 report that temperatures will slide into the 30's by 8 PM Monday night, and by 2 AM Tuesday they'll dip into the upper 20's.

Skies should be clear and winds calm, but it's still going to be a freezing night, so be sure to take measures to ensure that outdoor pets have a warm, dry place to shelter (preferably inside your home, if possible) and that plants and pipes are protected from the extreme cold.

The folks at todayshomeowner.com recommend disconnecting and draining garden hoses, covering outside faucets with insulating foam covers, turning off the water supply to outdoor faucets and draining them if possible, turning of your sprinkler system and blowing compressed air through it if possible, dripping indoor faucets, and opening cabinet doors under sinks to help prevent freezing and bursting of pipes.

They have a long list of further recommendations, so be sure to check out it here.

When it comes to pets, I once again want to stress that really should bring them inside. However, if you can't for some reason, be sure they have a dry shelter with warm bedding raised off the ground that won't leave them exposed to the chilling wind. Make sure they have access to fresh, clean, non-frozen water.

News 10 meteorologist Sean Bellafiore tells us a south wind will blow in during the day Tuesday and bring temperatures up to highs close to 60, but another cold front will roll in Wednesday, bringing with it cooler temperatures in the 50s and a 30% chance of rain east of I-35.

Keep warm, be safe, and make sure your pets are taken care of.
