Looking For A Furry Friend? Killeen, Texas to Hold Free Pet Adoption Event
If you're in the Killeen, Texas area and looking to save a life while adding a new furry friend to your family, this is the weekend to do it. Here's why.
Everyone, at one point in our lives, wants to own a pet. And why not? Who hasn't seen a cat or a dog that just stole your heart?
I learned later in life that I was 100% a dog person. But not everybody is a dog person. You might be a cat person, or a some other type of animal person.
So a visit to the animal shelter is sometimes a great idea to adopt an animal to take care of. But the adoption fees sometimes stop many from bringing home a new member of the family. Killeen Animal Shelter however has a solution for that.
Killeen Animal Shelter's Free Adoption Event
To celebrate National Dog day, which is August 26th, the Killeen Animal Shelter will hold an event for free adoption from the 26th until the 31st. All animals at the shelter will be available for adoption. For those wanting to see what animals are available to be adopted, Killeen's city website lists the animals waiting to meet you and join your family.
For those wanting to talk about a certain animal, they can call 254-526-4455. The shelter is also located at 3118 Commerce Drive, and open Monday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM, Sunday 11 AM-4 PM.
Forever Homes for Furry Friends
This is a wonderful idea. Removing pet adoption fees definitely will encourage many to take home a new friend. And more importantly, it helps many animals who have felt alone can have someone to watch over them.
Are You Ready?
Something to keep in mind before adopting a pet is that you're taking a living, loving creature into your home. They're going to bond with you quickly and put their trust in you. That means you have a responsibility to care for them, and not just discard them if you get bored or decide you've changed your mind.
Please only adopt if you're ready for a new family member. You'll need to make sure they eat well, get plenty of play and exercise, and get vet care when they're under the weather.
If you're ready for that, you'll receive in return unconditional love, more fun than your heart can handle, and a friend who'll bring joy and light to your life.
