UPDATED 1PM: Water service has been restored as of noon. A boil order is in effect for 24 hours.

Citizens of McGregor are without water Tuesday morning after officials were forced to shut down the city’s system because of a major leak.

The decision to shut down the system came after workers were unable to place a cap on a line leak at 10th and Monroe. City staff are currently working to repair the line, and McGregor’s city manager expects the repairs to be complete by noon at the latest.

Meanwhile, the entire city, with the exception of the SpaceX and Hercules facilities, remains without water service. Once service is restored, a boil water order will be in effect for 24 hours.
