Navigating the New Traffic Configuration Over I-35 in Temple
During the edit session of making the original traffic video of the I-35 Bridge Construction in Temple, Aaron and I noticed we missed a no left turn sign. I actually missed the no left turn sign cause I was driving. But, as you can see Aaron just let me drive. lol. Driving and talking is much harder in a construction zone.
Our first time through this construction we blew two signs and basically failed at navigating the new traffic pattern at 31st. While we did laugh at this after the fact, this is actually a small part of why Aaron and I filmed this. This is a major change in the traffic pattern and flow. People navigating this for the first time are going to make mistakes. Nobody likes the feeling of going through crazy road construction for the first time after a major change to the traffic pattern. The last few days I haven't even gone on that side of town because of it. I feel so cut off from Shipley's!
If watching this helps you avoid a mistake in this area, so much the better. Hopefully it helps spread the word that this new road work has created a pretty unique situation, and that people will remember to use caution and observe signs when you approach this area in Temple. It's likely the traffic pattern could change again as the project moves forward. We will keep on eye on it. This video also got a few requests for us to visit a few other constructions zones along the loop. We will do a better job of sign spotting next time. Be good, and be safe!
