Not A Lot Of Central Texas Love In MaxPreps Preseason Top 25
High school football is a big deal. We all know it. So it was a little disappointing to the lack of local representation in the just-released MaxPreps Preseason Texas high school football rankings.
Maxpreps is one of the most trusted sources for high school sports and often their preseason predictions turn out to be true.
More than half the teams come from either the Dallas or Houston area, with Houston's North Shore taking the top spot. The two Central Texas teams come from the Austin area, with familiar names Lake Travis (4) and Westlake (15).
Westlake opens the season against the Belton Tigers. If the Tigers could upset the Chaparrals at their home turf we would most likely have a top 25 team in our backyard.
The top 25 will always consist of the large schools, but MaxPreps also has rankings for everything from 6A to private schools. Click here to check out that list.
Whether or not your team made the list, football is football so enjoy the season it's just around the corner.
