News 10 is reporting that local shooting in Waco on Monday morning that sent one man to the hospital was a bigger gunfight then previously believed.

KWTX has learned that there were over 80 bullet shell casings fired from six different caliber weapons during the shooting.

Around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the area of North 23rd Street and Sanger Avenue, police received calls about possible gunfire.

KWTX said, "As officers responded to the area, police received a report that a vehicle had crashed into a pole at the intersection of 23rd and Sanger and another report that a man had turned up in the emergency room of a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the shin, Officer Garen Bynum said."

Police believe the dispute stemmed from an altercation at a bar earlier.

“As a result of that, several individuals drove to the area that the male subject was supposed to be at and began firing gunshots at him,” Bynum said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

“The wound is believed to be non-life-threatening, but will require surgery to repair it,” Bynum said.
