The Killeen Daily Herald is reporting the sudden closing of Richard Rawlings Garage in Harker Heights.

In August of 2016, the restaurant opened after taking over the location from Twin Peaks. It was remodeled and made into Richard Rawlings Garage. The video above was from Rawlings visit in September of 2016.

It was an exciting time when the location opened along Central Texas Expressway in Harker Heights, but this past Sunday a note was found on the door that explained the location was now closed.

On Monday, nobody answered the phone at the restaurant and suddenly their listing on Google says the spot is "permanently closed". KDH reports that back in January of 2018 that Richard Rawlings Garage was listed on an area retail site as "for sale". At the time employees said this was part of an effort to re-work the lease on the building. It was listed under Marcus and Millichap Inc. listings.

When I first moved to the area in 2016 I remember hearing employees from Tilted Kilt and Hooters saying everyone had gone down the street to work at Richard Rawlings Garage. Apparently, some of the other restaurants can get their old employees back soon. Those other restaurants are still open. The same can't be said of the garage.
