Temple Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing a Car That Would Not Start
The Temple Daily Telegram is reporting the story of a central Texas man who has allegedly been arrested for stealing a car that wouldn't start.
Richard Broome was in the Bell County Jail Sunday after he was arrested on charges he stole a car from the Ragin' Cajun Car Wash on 55th Street.
Witnesses saw Broome along with several other men tow a 1992 Chevy Blazer from it's "for sale" location at the car wash. Police say a caller informed them of the theft and presented several photos showing Broome and the others towing the Chevy away using a single cab pickup truck. Officers told the Telegram they recognized the man in the photo from "previous involvement".
Broome has a criminal record that goes all the way back to 1980. The Telegram reports he was released from jail in February of this year. His record includes charges for possession of methamphetamine, several burglary charges, and charges of aluminum, brass, and copper theft from various Central Texas locations.
