Temple Police Car Struck by a Fleeing Suspect on Airport Road
Around 2:30 PM Wednesday, a Temple police officer attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle when a person got out with his hands raised, claiming to have suffered a gunshot wound.
While the officer was checking on that person, the vehicle that had been pulled over sped away. That officer put out a description of the vehicle that was later spotted in the area of Airport Road and Twin Oaks. When another officer attempted to stop the suspect's, car the two vehicles collided.
A press conference with Temple Public Information Officer Shawana Neely at the scene was captured by our sister station KTEM AM 1400 and can be viewed above. The 2 individuals inside the car fled on foot. Those two suspects were apprehended. Officers used a taser on one of the suspects, who we're told was hospitalized.
More information was expected to be released after a preliminary investigation.
