In the early morning hours of September 24, 2023, Temple, Texas police were involved in altercation with an unnamed female suspect. Here's what we know at the current time.

Details Released By The Temple Police Department

In a press release by the department, a disruption was brought to the attention of officers around 12:59 AM. The report was of shots being fired. When officers arrived on the scene, the 500 block of N. 12th St, they met an unnamed female suspect.

The female suspect, according to police, had a firearm in her possession. At one point, the unnamed female turned their firearm towards the officers, which in turn caused an officer to fire one shot at the suspect, which hit her. After the suspect was shot, medical attention was provided on scene via Temple Police Officers, Temple Fire and Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services, as stated by the release.

The suspect, following the medical attention, was taken to Baylor Scott and White, where she was pronounced dead.

Temple Police, as stated by the release, have placed the officer on administrative leave due to standard practice. The incident is under investigation by Texas Rangers, as well as internal affairs.
