Temple, Texas has been growing so quickly over the past couple of years that certain infrastructure plans that have been in place since before anyone can seem to remember are now constantly changing in an attempt to keep up with the times.

The City of Temple released an email just this morning to let all residents and business owners in the community know that the city will be collecting trash and recycling in a whole new way beginning July 7th. Texas is growing very quickly, and Temple is a perfect illustration of that, so utilities also need to quickly adapt.

Bye-bye to those oddly numbered routes that had everything zoned out into 7 different groups. Trash and recycling will now be picked up on the same day, and that is why Temple is now portioned into 5 areas to complement the five work days each week.

Each color represents the new day of the week for Temple trash and recycling pickup

  1. Mondays the purple area will be collected.
  2. Tuesdays the red area will be collected.
  3. Wednesdays the green area will be collected.
  4. Thursdays the blue area will be collected.
  5. Fridays the yellow area will be collected.

Of course many residents will likely keep one of the two days they already have for trash or recycling, but no matter your day, you will only have to wheel out your bins one day each week. The city is asking to make sure you keep at least 3 feet of separation between the bins, so the trucks can grab your garbage or recycling.
