Texas Police Are Now On The Alert For These
With fall now officially arriving in the area, and many Killeen-Temple, Texas schools having or completing fall breaks, police are diligently keeping an eye out for anyone that may be putting our school children at risk. Most area schools have been back in session for about 3 months, but that is the perfect time to remind drivers to stay alert and cautious especially in school zones.
This week has been designated as School Bus Safety Week for 2023, and it could not come at a better time. Drivers are made very aware of the returning existence of school busses when the new fall semester begins, but you can quickly begin to overlook their presence after a couple of months.
What are the laws for school bus safety in Texas?
Under Texas law, fines can be heavy for not abiding by all the bus safety laws that are in place to simply protect our children and the children of our neighbors. It does not matter which side of the street the bus is stopped, if their sign is out and the red lights are flashing, you must stop until the bus begins moving again.
Those crossing lights and extended stop signs are also a great reminder to be off of our devices, especially when inside school zones. Remember, if it was your kid walking, loading, or unloading from a school bus, you would want everyone to be acting the child was theirs.
