A hair salon owner in Dallas is behind bars after she refused to close her business during the mandatory shelter in place order in Texas.

According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, Shelley Luther was found in contempt of court and was sentenced to serve 7 days in jail. Luther was served a cease and desist order to close her salon, but instead Luther remained open and publicly ripped up the order.

Obviously Luther has shown extreme disregard for the law and the safety of others, and Judge Eric Moye says Luther expressed no “contrition, remorse or regret” for her actions.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton feels differently and says that Luther should be released immediately.

Shelly Luther countered the Judge's opinion by stating she would have had no way to feed her children if she closed her salon.

Cue the biggest eye-roll ever! Luther wanted to do as she pleased and expected to get away with it, I think 7 days in jail is a joke and I honestly believe she deserves more time than that.

Do you agree, or was she in the right?
