Wednesday morning, the Centers for Disease Control announced double masking as an effective way to combat COVID-19.

In their report, the agency suggested using a common surgical mask underneath cloth masks, knotting the ear loops, then tucking in and flattening the material close to the face.

According to their report, this procedure has "improved source control" and "reduced wearer exposure."

One experiment showed wearing a standard surgical mask blocked 42% of particles from a simulated cough.

Another experiment showed the combination of both surgical and cloth masks blocked 92.5% of the cough particles.

I think this makes sense. There are already people wearing two masks for precautionary reasons anyway.

And for the anti-maskers, numbers don't lie. While this is all new to us here in the States, trust the medical professionals.

Can't you see that wearing a mask can protect you and others you may come across? Here's a video that addresses a number of myths and misunderstandings around wearing masks, including the idea that you'll experience CO2 poisoning or oxygen deprivation while wearing one (or even six!). How often have you heard the  myths and excuses covered in the video?

Have you been that person that has parked in the parking lot at HEB or Walmart, gotten all the way up to the door, and realized you've forgotten your mask, meaning now you have to walk back to your car?

Now when you go back, grab two. Or, more accurately, grab a layered cloth mask to wear over a surgical mask. It could do a better job of protecting you, as well as people around you.

Good luck and stay safe out there, y'all!
