The Dollar General in Temple Reopens Day After Employees Walk Out

The Dollar General on West Adams Avenue in Temple is reopened after most of the employees' quit.

This seems to be a trend I see happening across the country, as employees are walking out of their jobs in protest of their working environment. Some are walking because the working conditions are bad, some are walking because the pay sucks, and some are walking because their boss is a jerk.

The employees at a Dollar General on West Adams in Temple walked out on Monday, July 26, and left a sign on the door reading, “It’s been amazing having awesome customers brighten our day at this job. However we all QUIT because our manager does NOT treat us with respect.”

This sounds like a case where the employees didn't like the boss.

Our news partners at KWTX spoke with the manager of that Dollar General, who said the disgruntled employees who walked out had previously been coached on “work ethic.” The manager was able to reopen the store with the remaining employees later in the day and a “now hiring” sign has been placed at the entrance to the store for those looking for work.

So what's with all the people just up and quitting all of a sudden? A quick Google search will show four or five stories where employees have walked out mid-shift or just not showing up because of various reasons.

The good news is simple: one person's actions can lead to another's good fortune. Dollar General is hiring.
