Good News, Central Texas: You Could Be Owed Money – Here’s How to Find Out
Is it possible that there was one last paycheck from that part-time job you had a few years ago?
Maybe your rental deposit was sent to the wrong address, or some forgotten insurance payout is waiting for you to claim it.
Did a family member pass away and leave behind a safety deposit box that is rightfully yours?
According to CBS Austin, there is over 7 billion dollars worth of unclaimed property in the state of Texas.
February 1st is the second annual National Unclaimed Property Day.
What Does 'Unclaimed Property' Include?
The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators states that nearly 33 million people in the United States have unclaimed property.
Common forms of unclaimed property can include dormant bank accounts, stocks, and uncashed dividends.

The Deadline to Make a Claim
Good news! There is generally no statute of limitations for unclaimed property the state holds.
That means there’s no time limit for owners to file a claim, so even if it's been several months or even years, the claim can be filed whenever you want.
Funds and property remain with the state until the rightful owner comes forward.
More good news...it's free to file a claim.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar says nearly $2 billion dollars has been returned to Texans since he took office.
Here's How to Get Your Property
For more information or search for unclaimed property and begin the claims process, your can go to ClaimItTexas.org, or call 800-321-2274 (CASH).
If you think you may have money or property in a state other than Texas, you can check MissingMoney.com or FindMyFunds.com to search for it.
Happy hunting!
