Tip-A-Cop in Temple Thursday Night to Help the Special Olympics of Texas
If you stop by Texas Roadhouse in Temple this Thursday, July 29, you'll notice something a little different about the wait staff.
To Protect and...Serve?
Temple police officers will be taking order and slinging steaks for a great cause from 5PM to 9PM that night.
What's the Deal?
So, why are LEOs suddenly working for tips? No, they're not working extra jobs to pay off a new squad car.
They're actually participating in a program called Tip-A-Cop. The idea is to raise funds for and awareness of the Special Olympics of Texas!
How Can I Help?
All you have to do to help this noble cause is show up to eat Thursday night at Texas Roadhouse in Temple. It's right off I-35 and just up the road from our studio! The address is 624 N. General Bruce Dr.
If you'd like, you can also buy a T-shirt, the proceeds from which will go directly to the Special Olympics of Texas.
So, all you really have to do is fill up on those amazing Roadhouse rolls, chow down on your favorite steak (I'm partial to a medium rare New York Strip, myself), and sip on some sweet tea. Oh, and leave a nice tip. It's for an extra special cause.
This Year's Games
This year's Special Olympics Summer Games will take place at Morgan's Wonderland in San Antonio September 19-21.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because we've written about Morgan's Wonderland before. It opened in 2010 as the world's first fully inclusive theme park for folks with special needs, and almost a decade later added a fully inclusive and accessible waterpark.
It's the perfect venue for special needs athletes to compete and show the world their talents and skills.
I had the opportunity to film part of the torch run through Temple back in 2019. The pandemic put the kibosh on 2020's games, but they're making a triumphant comeback in 2021.
Best of luck to everyone competing this year!
