It's a song that every kid of my generation has belted out a time or two.  Whether you loved the song, the show, the car or just Daisy Duke, the theme from "The Dukes of Hazzard" went gold on this date in 1980.

The first time I ever remember watching "The Dukes of Hazzard" was while living in the Philippines in 1983.  I was 5-years-old, and for me it was all about the car.  Those Duke boys and their Dodge Charger were the coolest things on planet Earth in the early 1980s.

Add on top of that the theme song, and my favorite TV show of all time had everything a young boy could ask for, and then some.  Waylon Jennings is one of country music's true outlaws, and although I had no idea who he was at the time, he was a perfect choice to sing about Hazzard County's outlaws... the Dukes.  On December 9th, 1980, 23 years ago, Waylon's "Good Ol' Boys" was certified Gold, having sold at least 500,000 copies.
