Apple is warning customers with older model phones that they need to update iOS by midnight Sunday or risk their phones not being able to use functions like the App Store, iCloud, email, and web browsing.

Apple noted on their website that there's a way to prevent this.

First, make sure your phone is up to date.

Second, make sure your operating system is updated with the software version 10.3.4

If you are unaware how to do that, open the settings app, tap general, then tap about and look for the number next to the software version. If you don't have the latest update, open your settings app again and tap Software Update, then Download and Install.

If you are good with those two options then you should be good to go when this update occurs.

The update is due to a GPS time rollover issue that occurred back in April and somehow messed with certain GPS-dependent apps. Good times.

The company says iPhone 5 users should be the most concerned, but everyone ought to update their iOS often to ensure they're getting the most out of the phone they invested in.
