The City of Temple has established water filling stations and was opening a bottled water pickup points Friday afternoon after much of the city remained under a boil water notice.

The City of Temple will have limited supplies of bottled water to distribute to affected citizens beginning at 2PM at the following locations:

Central Fire Station, 210 N. 3rd St.
Fire Station #2, 1710 E. Ave H.
Mayborn Civic & Convention Center, 3303 N 3rd St.

UPDATE: Grace Temple Ministries at 801 S. 13th Street has been added as a bottle distribution location.

UPDATE 2: Family Promise, 1018 E Avenue A, will be opened as an additional water distribution site for residents who live within the Boil Water Notice area. They will be open on Saturday only from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Water will be limited to one case per household while supplies last. Distribution points will close at 6PM Friday, but will reopen Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 6PM. Please only take water if you absolutely need it. Many people are without water service right now and badly need this help.

Potable water is also being distributed at Temple Fire Stations 3-8. You must bring your own container to receive water at one of these locations:

Fire Station #3, 3606 Midway Dr.
Fire Station #4, 411 Waters Dairy Rd.
Fire Station #5, 510 North Apache
Fire Station #6, 3620 Range Rd.
Fire Station #7, 8420 West Adams
Fire Station #8, 7268 Airport Rd.

"With roads clearing and better conditions occurring today, Temple Police Department Transportation Services will be discontinued Saturday, Feb. 20 at 12 a.m.," City spokesman Cody Weems wrote in a news release Friday afternoon. "PD Transportation services will then shift resources to deliver water for those who cannot get to water distribution points. Transportation services will still be provided for persons that need to depart a warming shelter through Saturday, Feb. 20. If you are unable to get to a water distribution point or need transportation home from a shelter, please call 254.298.5550."

Meanwhile, water customers east of I-35 in Temple are encouraged to boil all water prior to consumption until further notice.
