Murder Suspect Found with Help from Google Maps Technology
Murder Solved with Google Maps
A Spanish couple has been arrested for the murder of a Cuban man in what police describe as a deadly love triangle, and the key evidence came from an unexpected source: Google Street View. Apparently, a man was loading a body into the trunk of a car at exactly the same time as the Google Street View car was driving by. The victim, a 33-year-old man referred to by his initials, JPLO, had been missing for almost a year when Google’s cameras sparked a renewed interest into the investigation.
Google Street View Sees All
While driving through the tiny village of Tajueco, the Google Street View car took pictures that showed a man pushing what appeared to be a human body wrapped in a large bag in a wheelbarrow and later loading it into the trunk of a car. Authorities identified the man as Manuel Isla Gallardo, a 48-year-old local known as "The Wolf." A torso was later discovered buried in a nearby cemetery, confirmed to be JPLO’s. Police are still searching for additional remains.
A Deadly Love Triangle
The victim reportedly traveled to Tajueco to reunite with a woman that he had previously been involved with in a romantic affair. Once he arrived in Tajueco he found her in a relationship with Gallardo. It seems that the reunion didn't turn out the way the victim wanted to, and instead it ended in murder.
