Last week, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article). There's already a Dutch Bros in Killeen, and they're looking to open even more locations in the Central Texas region.

So now we know what will go in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

It just shows that people are still moving here from all sorts of places, partly because of Fort Hood, but also because it's just a great place to live and word's gotten out. (It doesn't hurt that we're right on I-35 as well.)

I had to Google many of the places y'all recommended because I'd never heard of them, though a few familiar names made the list. There were even some places I love, but hadn't even considered given how small the lot is. But hey, a decent architect could make it work, right? I kid, I kid. The lot is great for a coffee shop or hot dog joint, but let's be real - you ain't gonna fit a Pappadeaux in there!
