I Love You H-E-B, But Can We Talk About This TX-Style Sweet Tea?

I want to start by saying that I absolutely love H-E-B.

They're the greatest grocery store on the planet. I know this because, believe it or not, I've had lengthy conversations with online friends from other countries about how spoiled we are here in Texas and how mediocre their shops are.

There are several people in the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, and even Japan who've had H-E-B YouTube videos and pictures spammed at them and are insanely jealous of how good we have it thanks to this Texas gem.

I could gush about them all day, so I'll restrain myself and just say that their H-E-B brand products are usually just as good as the name brand products, and in a lot of cases are even better.

However, there's one product I recently tried that kinda broke my heart: their TX-Style Sweet Tea.

I usually brew my own sweet tea at home, but H-E-B's bottled brew was on sale a couple of weeks ago and I thought 'what the heck?'. I've tried a couple of name brand bottled teas that were pretty alright, and since H-E-B usually impresses, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Here's my gripe. The label clearly says TX-Style, so imagine how utterly shocked I was when I poured a glass, took a sip, and tasted lemon!

I'm sorry, but lemon in sweet tea? That is NOT Texas style. I guess some people might call it Southern style, but those people live in Georgia or one of the Carolinas and have no business telling Texans how to brew tea.

Am I wrong here? To me, Texas style sweet tea has two ingredients: tea and half a bag of sugar. Lemon is definitely NOT invited to this tea/taste bud mixer.

H-E-B, I'd hug you if I could. You know I adore you.

However, this is madness. Please put the lemons in the lemonade where they belong and keep them out of my sweet tea.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.
