Temple police will be serving up free lunch at Miller Park Friday, May 31st, and you're invited.

The fourth annual Burgers with a Badge event is scheduled for 11 AM to 2 PM at 1919 North 1st Street. You'll have a chance to meet officers and ask them questions, voice concerns, or just get to know them and your neighbors.

“This is our major event to kick off the summer,” Police Chief Floyd Mitchell said. “It’s an opportunity to get out, have fun, and talk over a meal about what concerns our community has. It also gives us the opportunity to let them know we’re here to assist them with any issues they may have.”

Officers will be grilling up burgers and hot dogs with all the fixin's. There'll also be snow cones, and the park's splash pads will be open for the kiddos.

Last year's Burgers with the Badge drew over 400 people. We'd love to see this event grow so citizens and officers can continue to connect and be on the same page when it comes to serving and protecting our community.
