2020 has been the ultimate year of "self care", with most of us trying to be more mindful of our health. However, we can't forget about the health of our furry friends and making sure their shots and tests are up to date.

We're all tightening our belts right now, but if you want to do right by your best buddy, you can stop by the low-cost pet clinic coming to Temple's James B Wilson ParkSaturday, November 21.  (1909 Curtis B Elliot Dr.)

The folks at Emancipet will be set up there from 10 AM  to 4 PM to officer dog and cat vaccines, heartworm tests, microchipping, and more. If you have any questions, you can call (512) 587-7729.

They'll even spay or neuter your pet by appointment, so if you recently adopted a pet and need to get that done, this is a great opportunity to do the responsible thing and save some cash.

Speaking of adoption, Temple Animal Services is offering free pet adoptions for veterans throughout the month of November. If you're a veteran looking to add a new member to your family, you'll need to book an appointment with the Temple Animals Shelter at (254) 298-5732.

Veterans who adopt a pet will still need to pay to have their new friend spayed or neutered and to get their rabies vaccine. However, people who would like to assist veterans with those costs can purchase spay and neuter vouchers. They're $65 for a spay voucher, and $55 for a neutering voucher.

I adopted my dog, Leela, from the Temple Animal Shelter four years ago, and she's been the best companion anyone could ask for. Just sayin'.
