Temple Arson Suspect Served Warrant While in County Jail

Temple Fire and Rescue's Deputy Fire Marshals served a warrant Wednesday in an arson case dating back to early April.

Fire investigators believe 31-year-old Lateisha Thomas to be responsible for starting multiple fires inside of a house at 906 West Avenue E in Temple on April 4th.

After the Temple Fire Marshal's Office conducted their investigation, Thomas was charged with second degree felony arson of a habitation. The warrant was served at the Bell County Jail, where Thomas was already in custody on charges unrelated to the alleged arson.

According to Bell County Jail records, Thomas was booked on April 21 at 11:45 AM, and a charged of third degree felony assault of a public servant was listed on her roster page. She remained in the jail Thursday in lieu of bonds totaling $90,000.

Back on April 29, 20-year-old Daniel Mitchell was arrested in another arson case. The Temple Fire Marhal's Office accuses Mitchell of breaking into a Sammons Golf Course facility, setting a golf cart on fire, driving another cart into the small lake at Sammons, and driving yet another golf cart into a ditch. He was charged with felony criminal mischief and bonded out of the Bell County Jail with $50,000.
