The bad news: police are still trying to find the shooter who opened fire on shoppers at Killeen Mall in early December.

The good news: investigators say they do know it was not a random act of violence.

The incident was frightening for everyone involved, but fortunately, no fatalities occurred. One person received ten gunshots and is still recovering. However, no other injuries were reported by anyone in the area.

According to the Killeen Daily Herald, the suspect was described by police as a 6-foot tall white man with a medium build.

He was last seen wearing dark clothes with an all-white beanie, mask, and gloves.

What Happened?

Laura Dodd of the Killeen Daily Herald is also reporting that KPD Chief Charles Kimble has confirmed the mall shooting was directed at one individual - the lone victim in the shooting.

I will tell you that we feel confident that the victim was the intended target, he just happened to be working at the mall that day. I think our suspect knew that. Nonetheless, I don’t think the mall was the target. I can say this: Killeen is a safe place. Killeen is a safe city. The mall is safe. - Killeen Police Chief Charles Kimble

Meanwhile, the victim, who is still recovering from his injuries, understandably wants his attacker in jail. He says he is grateful to be alive, but still fearful for his safety since the shooter is still at large.

According to KCEN-TV, the 21-year-old man is asking to remain anonymous. After the shooting, he underwent two surgeries and spent 11 days in the hospital.
