As extreme cold settles in to Central Texas, warming centers have opened their doors in Temple, Killeen, and Copperas Cove to help those in need and save lives.

If you know of someone who is in need of a safe, warm, dry shelter tonight, please share this information with them. If you have elderly or otherwise vulnerable neighbors, consider checking on them if it is safe to do so. (Please wear a mask and physically distance if you do.)

Here are the warming stations currently in operation:

Temple

Impact Temple at 306 East Adams Avenue will be open 24/7 until further notice.

Transformation Station at 503 E. Central Avenue and Victory Ministries at 305 S 18th Street are open as well.

Killeen

The City of Killeen has partnered with Skyline Baptist Church for a warming station at 906 Trimmier Road.

Copperas Cove

The Copperas Cove Civic Center at 1206 West Avenue B opened at 6PM and will continue operating as a warming center until further notice. The Civic Center does not have full shelter services, and they're strongly encouraging those in need to bring the following if possible:

Change of Clothing
Bedding
Toiletries
Food/Drink
Medications
Entertainment Items, such as Books, Games, etc.
Any other necessities

Again, this could be life saving information for someone in need, so please share it and help us get the word out.

Thank you to everyone who's having to brave this weather to work. However, if you don't have to be out, please stay in your home and keep warm. Driving conditions are very dangerous right now.

If you must go out, be sure that you take along supplies you may need should your car become stranded. Make sure your phone is fully charged, and consider telling a loved one or friend where you'll be going and the route you'll be taking. Let them know to check up on you and send help if they don't hear from you.

Stay safe out there, Central Texas.
