Cafe Homestead Waco, Texas Restaurant Reopens After Fire Bigger And Better
Heading into the end of 2022, Cafe Homestead was gearing up for their 30th year in Waco, Texas when the restaurant became a total loss in an overnight fire just 2 days before Christmas on December 23, 2022. It was later revealed the fire most likely began in its chimney.
From burning down just before Christmas to being reopened in less than 6 months is already quite the achievement. When you consider the special attention that was made to have the place look almost exactly the same, you can't help but smile to see promises fulfilled.
What has changed about the new Cafe Homestead?
Besides the obvious difference in building code, materials, and technology that comes with a new build in 2023, the restaurant does have a larger seating capacity and has plans to increase their menu options too.
If you have never eaten previously at the Cafe Homestead located at the Homestead Heritage Site, you may miss some of the Easter Eggs that have been included with the rebuild.
Again, the look of the building is very similar to the previous restaurant, and they salvaged what they could from the previous building. These include charred logs from the original building that were refabricated into the sign that greets you when you walk in.
