Temple and Killeen will open their Emergency Warming Shelters this evening.

In Killeen the warming center is in the Community Center at 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. The center will be open as a warming shelter from 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan 23 to noon Friday.  The shelter is for all who need it.

In Temple, Warming Shelters will be open for men at Victory Ministries, 305 South 18th Street and Transformation Station, 503 East Central Avenue .

The warming centers will be open Thursday, January 23 through Friday, January 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Resources are available to provide a warming location for women and children should the need arise.

Warming centers are possible due to the efforts of the City of Temple Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the not-for-profit Temple Emergency Warming Center Coalition (TEWCC), and the 2-1-1 System.

Warming Centers in Temple provide a place to bring people that would normally be out in the elements on an extremely cold evening indoors during the coldest hours of the night. Warming Centers provide a warm area for refuge, water, blankets, toilet facilities, and limited hygiene items.
